Al Kaline biography
Al Kaline, in full Albert William Kaline, byname Mr. Tiger, (born December 19, 1934, Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.—died April 6, 2020, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan), American skilled baseball participant, an outfielder who was a preeminent fielder and hitter, batting and throwing right-handed.
Kaline began enjoying sandlot baseball earlier than he went to highschool. Many in his household had been in semiprofessional baseball. At first he wished to be a pitcher, however at Southern High School in Baltimore, Maryland, he was thought of too small to pitch and too frail for the infield and so turned an outfielder. He was signed to a contract by the American League Detroit Tigers in mid-season of 1953 and instantly went to the majors; thus, Kaline has the weird distinction for a serious leaguer of by no means having performed within the minor leagues.
