Hirsch Jacobs, (born April 8, 1904, New York City—died Feb. 13, 1970, Miami Beach), U.S. coach and breeder of Thoroughbred racehorses, the foremost coach within the United States from 1933 till 1944. In 43 years as a coach, Jacobs established a world file of profitable horses in 3,569 races. As a boy in New York City, he raced pigeons. When he was 13, he dropped out of college to work as a steamfitter.
